For the Senior Art Final students need to create an art project that incorporates a combination of skills from their projects through the semester. Here are some of their finals.
This project started as a self portrait watercolor painted on collages book pages. She kept the project, included some decorative elements, fixed the proportions of her body that she thought were off, and added chopped up mirror pieces.
Acrylic on canvas
Acrylic on collaged newspaper
This project was created by a student whose mother passed away a few years ago. It was a very emotional piece. She included a letter her mother wrote to her one day and a letter she wrote to her mother after she passed.
I found this great art teacher's blog -RefrigeratorGood. Artwork Worthy of a Magnet and thought these plaster projects would be so much fun. So we tried it. It was pretty messy, difficult to get the chalky residue from the plaster to clean off of the tables, but too cold to do outside. We should have put newspaper down on the tables first.... So, we wrapped hands with plastic wrap, then used the plaster of Paris. Then I instructed students to create a graphic using 7 different letters with 7 different fonts, turning the letters to fit together with different sizes. Then they made multiple different sized copied of their graphic and decoupaged it to their hands. Project success, I think the students really enjoyed it also.
In Senior Art we started with the Pop Art Print Making assignment that had led us to using the linoleum cutters on pumpkins. Here are some pictures of their progress.
This printmaking project has turned out to be a lot of fun. I hope the students enjoyed it. I liked seeing some students that don't normally participate actually really get into the research, drawing, and/or carving portion of this assignment.
Seniors, today I am not posting an image or quote for your reflection warm up. Today you are to post a reflection of your own on your blog. After you post an image or quote and ask your audience to respond somehow, you need to respond to 3 of your peers' blogs. Please try to post on a blog you have not posted yet.
Next, I have collected a list of videos for you to watch about Pop Art. I will be showing a couple in the art classroom, but here are a few for you to view on your own.
