Senior Art Finals

For the Senior Art Final students need to create an art project that incorporates a combination of skills from their projects through the semester. Here are some of their finals.

This project started as a self portrait watercolor painted on collages book pages. She kept the project, included some decorative elements, fixed the proportions of her body that she thought were off, and added chopped up mirror pieces.

Acrylic on collaged newspaper

This project was created by a student whose mother passed away a few years ago. It was a very emotional piece. She included a letter her mother wrote to her one day and a letter she wrote to her mother after she passed.

Plaster Hands

I found this great art teacher's blog -RefrigeratorGood. Artwork Worthy of a Magnet  and thought these plaster projects would be so much fun. So we tried it. It was pretty messy, difficult to get the chalky residue from the plaster to clean off of the tables, but too cold to do outside. We should have put newspaper down on the tables first.... So, we wrapped hands with plastic wrap, then used the plaster of Paris. Then I instructed students to create a graphic using 7 different letters with 7 different fonts, turning the letters to fit together with different sizes. Then they made multiple different sized copied of their graphic and decoupaged it to their hands. Project success, I think the students really enjoyed it also.

Art Auction

Some of my talented students are working hard on individual pieces for our Fall Art Auction (November 29th, during Parent Teacher conferences).
Here are some more examples of completed pieces.

4th Grade Fall Owls

So, I'm addicted to Pinterest. I have been sooo inspired by Pinterest, and the many art/art teachers pinning. I found this Owl on Pinterest. I didn't link back to see where it came from when we did this project. However, posting it here, I felt it necessary. WOW!!! I wish I checked this out earlier. The site is called easely amused. It advertises painting lessons. I soooo want to go paint here, it would be too far to drive though, states away. I wish we had a place here like this. You pick a class/night, and you pay someone to lead you through painting your masterpiece. And how beautiful the paintings are!!!! And reasonable, I would think the canvas would cost this much, let alone paint, and instruction on how to paint. Wow!!! Very cool! Check it out.
So, for our owls, the students used orange construction paper to construct their birds. Next they used oil pastels to color/fill in their owls. I think they turned out great.

First Grade Penguins

I am sooo bad at this blogging. I wish I would just make the time and do this. I LOVE sharing my students' artowork, especially with their families.
Ok, these are the first graders' penguins. We collaged them, then used white paint for snow. I found this project on Kids Artists website. Great website for Art Teachers. I was nervous with the whole first-graders-using-paint issue. But I am trying to jump right in this year. It was a great success! I love how they turned out!
